At Powell's Owls, we love amber but we also love to travel!! Times have changed since travelling to Cancun and Daytona Beach and partying all night. These days it's about finding family friendly places to enjoy with our new born children. If you have a newborn, then you are no doubt looking forward to taking a break after all the stress from pregnancy and now the first few weeks after your child has come home. Thankfully, you don’t have to be stuck in your home town this spring break! If you are looking to take a spring break vacation in order to get away from it all, take a look at the following guide prepared by our team at Powell's Owls to the best spring break destinations to take with your newborn child.
San Antonio (Texas)
When it comes to Texas, no city beats San Antonio in terms of being family friendly! San Antonio is highly walkable, especially if you venture to the River Walk where you can take a safe pedestrian path through the city's many sights, restaurants, shops and more. San Antonio is also well known for its child-friendly activities, such as the famous DoSeum children's museum which has an infant area.
At first glance, you might think a big city isn't the place for a baby but Chicago is great for parents with a newborn thanks to its walkability along with its numerous attractions that are definitely stroller friendly. Museums, parks, zoos and more are ideal for parents with strollers, so you will be able to enjoy a nice afternoon with your newborn in tow. Chicago is still a bit cold during the spring, so make sure you bring your newborn’s warmer clothes!
Greenville (South Carolina)
Greenville has become a popular destination in the past few years thanks to its family-friendly activities, its walkability, and its beautiful natural scenery that makes the perfect backdrop to any spring break getaway. The downtown area of Greenville is notable for having wide stroller-friendly sidewalks, and you'll be able to enjoy restaurants, shops, parks and much more without having to lug your stroller around in a car.
Mackinac Island (Michigan)
Mackinac Island is an island located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is notable for one very strict rule: cars aren't allowed on the island! The island is for pedestrians, bicyclists and horses only, so you won't have to worry about getting looks from car drivers as you cross the street with a stroller. There is plenty to see and do on the island, including trails, historic house tours, fudge tasting and more.
